Monday 22nd November 2010

Today was a bright sunny day. In the morning we did Wellington run which means that we run around the block for ten minutes as fast as we can. After that we did maths like 200 X 260 it was really fun. Then we did reading activities then at ten fifty we had lunch. During break we were playing mini rugby with the little kids but it was just for fun. Now were doing stars of the day and then were going to the hall to practice our Christmas Concert item.

Ino Lee and Caleb - Here is one of the little friends that came to visit us - the whole school are trying to find good names for them!

Rahina 15 Whiringa - a- rangi 2010

Ayush says:  "The best part of the day was writing our own self report"  Boran disagrees he thinks that the best part of the day was seeing Sammi back after a long time away!!!  She is all good now!

Lunchtime - Boran went to the library and read some books while Ayush was playing soccer with Salesh, Tua, Ravikash, Gill and Hugo.  Ravikash says that heaps of people got hurt but it wasnt him it was the ball!  Ayush thinks it was because everyone was doing handball - oh dear!  He was happy though because his team won!

Thats me with my double bass
Hi my name is Dimitris. My day was awesome. Today we were visited by a police officer called Constable Owen who talked about keeping ourselves safe. We all got a lolly from him. DELICIOUS. Some of the people in D5 played a game of interclass netball. Our shooters scored with a whopping 2 points while the other class got 1 goal. It was so fun today but tommorow will be sad because our brilliant student teacher M.r cowan will be going back to university. We'll all miss him. We ended with our reflection: Something new we learnt. There were more time for more games so we begged our teacher and played. Thanks for reading about my tremendous day.

Good bye
From Dimitris
P.S Hope to see some comments :D

Friday 6th August

Today was a good day in D5 we did some art that was a bit like Hundtertwasser.  Hundtertwasser was an artist who use to live in New Zealand for a while, he made the Kawa Kawa toilets.  He didnt like straight lines but he liked using curly line and lots of colour.  Today we were just doing our backgrounds in pastel I did some koru's and rainbows.  I had a good day today because I enjoyed my game of ball tiggy, I am fast and can get away from the taggers.

Have a good weekend

Ravikash

Thats me looking at Arama - I was singing, honest!

Thursday 5th August

We havent written in  a few days because Ms Nola has been sick but she is back now better than ever - we think!
Today we had a special guest  teacher Ms Saleupolu she spent the morning with us and took us for maths and fitness.  She is a good teacher and helped us alot.
Today I played tiggy with Arama, Jarod, Jayden and Elijah it wasnt great because some people were not playing fair and too many people ended up playing.  I really liked reading with Ms Saleupolu because we got to draw some pictures and answer some questions from the story we read.

Have a good evening

Monday 2nd August 2010

Today is Monday and it has been a busy day.  Today we have read, written and performed many mathematical tasks.  The best part of my day was first break because me and my friends were playing ball tiggy, for this game we use the soft rugby ball with a small number of players - 4-6 any more is too many people.  In our school we have a planted area that is a good spot for hiding from other players.  There is also a classroom area that can block off the person that is in.  Overall Champ for ball tiggy today was Tavite as he got tagged the least.

I am off home now so hasta manana Chicos!

Awesome Origami by D5

Our Fantastic Friday

Today is Friday and we have spent the day Singing, meeting new people and mapping out Asia.  Every Friday morning after homework check we always sing a few songs from our Waiata book.  Today we had two visitors from the hearing impared class Holly and Malcom.  They will be spending more time with us from now on.  This afternoon we mapped Asia and the countries that are part of Asia.

The best part of our week was when we designed our own New Zealand flag and writing our speeches.

Have a good weekend

O for Awesome Origami!

As part of our study on Asia we had a go at the traditional Japanese art of Origami.

Fact - Origami (折り紙?, from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper") is the traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century AD and was popularized in the mid-1900s

It was an intense process that involved alot of folding, questioning and frustration but we got there in the end!!!
