EAST IDOL

Today we had the grand final of East Idol!  There was an amazing array of talent that spanned the school.  Congratulations to all our fantastic contestants!

 

Diwali 2012

This week D5 celebrated Diwali, we learnt about different traditions, created some fantastic Rangoli patterns(Thank you B6!)  And also ates some tasty sweets (Thank you Ms Gounder!)  Here are some pics from our day of Diwali.

 

On Friday we had the wonderful people from Counties Manukau Sport come to our school AND introduce some new games to us.  Here are some pictures from our day.

 

The Dangers of Fireworks

We interviewed some year one and two students to ask them about what the dangers of fireworks were, here are some of their answers:

GUY FAWKES

Today D5 undertook a mini inquiry on Guy Fawkes.  We wanted to know why we have it and the dangers associated with it.  We had some great help from the smaller people in our school too!!!  The following are some things we found out.

Catch Up

It has been go, go, go for D5 in the past two weeks!  We had our senior school speech contest where Liana came 3rd place with her speech on Cavemen, Well done Liana!!  We have also been working on finding the fraction of a number and writing a narrative about the school cats being Catnapped!!!  Keep your eyes on the blog to read and hear some of our fantastic stories!!!

Stardome

Day at the Stardome

On Thursday 28th of June D4,5,6 went to the Stardome to learn about the relationships between the Sun, Earth and the Moon.  We took lots of pictures but had to narrow it down to a few that showed what we got up to.  We hope you enjoy it!

TERM TWO - Exciting things

So far we have been really busy in D5 here are some highlights: Art with Mrs Botica, Crazy measurement activities, Autumn Leaf Art, Re-creating Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry, Starry Night' and using 'Study Ladder' to enhance our learning!  We will be updating weekly now so look out for our posts.

My day today

Today I got my chew toy stuck in my drink bottle. This happened because I was trying to do an act where my drink bottle ate my chew toy. Unfortunately I can't get the chew toy out yet! I am going to go home and think about how I can do this without spilling the water, Oh my hand won't fit in the bottle!

We're baaaack!

Its a new year and a new class!  We are the D5 Dazzlers of 2012!  Our teacher has promised us that we will be doing lots of blogging this year and we are really excited about that!  We know it means that she will have to work a bit harder but we think she can handle it!  So here is to a new year!
